CONTEXT
Mood:  bright
Topic: hobbies

The following riff is one shared with my new site New Continuities.....  The new site is more about YOU and less about organisations.

YOU can read more [at] http://newcontinuities.blogspot.com/

Imagine you are a prisoner of war. You are in a compound with fellow prisoners who need a leader. After a month you emerge as their leader. You are not the most senior officer in the camp but nonetheless you become the leader of thousands upon thousands of prisoners. You did not apply for the job. You can not remember what you did that qualified you for the job. All you know is you were acclaimed leader of the camp by consensus.

You are thrust into a leadership role and you discover it brings you a whole raft of 'new continuities'.

After four years hard work you are comfortable with the leadership mantle and uncomfortable with every other single aspect of captivity. Suddenly you and your fellow prisoners are liberated. You are going home. You walk from the compound as a 'free agent' once again.

You are no longer the leader. You are the same low ranking soldier who was captured four years ago. Ahead is freedom but back there was 'a more meaningful role in life' than you ever thought possible for yourself.

You now sit alone in a surging crowd of excited, noisy, and happy soldiers. You are happy too as you reflect back on your four years as their leader. Looking back you realise your 'leadership' was all about 'context'.
